中山大学作家写作营是中国首个把创作、教学与文学文化交流融合在一起的写作营。参与作家均是所在国著名作家或译者，有三部以上作品或译作，大多都有作品翻译成别国文字。该写作营是在参照国际上写作营的各种运作方式的基础上，结合中国英语教学的需要和中国文化特点而设计的活动写作营，其融创作、文化文学交流、作家作品朗读、作者译者交流、教学活动、创意表演于一体的方式在中国乃至世界上都是别具一格，在国外已享有很高声誉，过去两年与中山大学新华学院合作的部分是写作营的亮点之一。

本届写作营共邀请9位写作营作家，2名驻校作家，4名讲座作家、教授，2-3名中山大学教师以及多名中山大学学生（本科－博士），以加强师生之间的互动互学。

11月9日，该写作营将走进中山大学新华学院，与中大新华师生文学创作爱好者一起开展系列文化文学交流和教学活动。中山大学作家写作营“中大新华行”系列活动由国内首个英语创意写作研究中心和中山大学作家写作营的创始人戴凡教授同中山大学新华学院校长王庭槐教授共同组织，旨在探索英语教学的新途径和推动创意写作教学与创意教育的发展。

Weronika Murek

Weronika Murek - born in 1989, Bytom, south Poland. Graduated Law and Aministration Faculty (University of Silesia, Katowice and University of Barcelona) and Creative Writing at Jagiellonian University in Cracow.

Her first book - „Growing southern plants according to Michelin’s method” has been awarded Gombrowicz Prize and shortlisted to Passport Polityki Award, Gdynia Literary Award, Nike Award and Josef Conrad Award. The book has been translated to French and Slovak, Serbian and Hungarian edition to come up this year. In 2015 she has been awarded with Gdynia Playwright Prize and she has been working in the theatre ever since.

Mandy Coe

Mandy Coe’spoetry has been broadcast on BBC radio and television. Her fifth collection is ThereWill be Cherries (Shoestring Press 2016). Her children’s collection, IfYou Could See Laughter (Salt 2010) was included in the Centre for Literacy Poetry Awards. Winner of theManchester and Ilkley Poetry Prizes, she is a Visiting Fellow of TheWriting School at Manchester Metropolitan University. Commissions andcollaborations include the Poetry Society, Bath Festivals and NationalGalleries. Mandy lives in Liverpool.

Priya Sarukkai Chabria

PriyaSarukkai Chabria is a poet, novelist, essayist, translator, creative fictionwriter and curator. Her publications include translation Andal: The Autobiography of a Goddess with Ravi Shankar (Zubaan, New Delhi, 2015 ,University of Chicago Press, 2016) multi genre non-fiction Bombay/Mumbai: Immersions with British photographerChristopher Taylor( Niyogi Books, New Delhi, 2013,) Not Sprigtime Yet Poems (HarperCollins(India)Publishers,2008,)speculative fiction novel Generation14, (Zubaan-Penguin, New Delhi, 2008), Dialogues and Other Poems , (Academy of IndianLiterature Golden Jubilee Publication,2005, reprint 2006) and novel TheOther Garden, (Rupa &C0., new Delhi,1995). She build and edited thelarge online poetry archive that focuses on Indian and South Asian poetry, Talking Poetry India http://openspaceindia.org/express/talking-poetry.html and has edited theanthologies 50 Poets 50 Poemsand All Poetry is Protest forOpen Space , India. She currently editsthe online journal Poetry at Sangam http://poetry.sangamhouse.org/about/ and has edited Fafnir’s Heart, ananthology of translated poetry culledfrom its pages. She’s writing Love:Stories , completing amanuscript of poems, and is translating two southern Indian medieval bhakti/devotional poets from Classical Tamil into the English.

Briar Grace-Smith

Briar Grace-Smith descends from Ngāpuhi and is a writer of plays, screenplays, short fiction, radio and television scripts. She wasinaugural recipient of the Arts Foundation Award and Writer in Residence at Victoria University 2003. In 2016 she received the Te PouMarohi, Ngā Aho Whakaari Melissa Wikaire Memorial award - for tenacityand strength in bringing stories to the screen. Her short fiction has been published invarious anthologies and her plays include Purapurawhetū, Ngā Pou Wāhine, When Sun and Moo Collide and Paniora! Her feature film The Strength of Water premiered at the Rotterdam and Berlin Film Festivals in 2009 and Fresh Meat, a comedy horror played at various festivals including Tribeca Film Festival (2013). Hershort film Nine ofHearts (2012)was her directorial debut and her second, Charm is one of eight that make up the feature film Waru, to premiere at NZIFF 2017.Briar was a recipent of the Ramai Hayward Wāhine Māori Directors scholarship (2017). Her television credits include Fishskin Suit, Kaitangata Twitch, This is Piki (2016) and the Australianchildrens series, Grace Beside Me, topremiere in 2017. She has worked as a Development Executive for the New Zealand Film Commission and taught writing for theatre at the International Institute of Modern Letters at Victoria University. Shelives with her whānau in Paekākāriki on the Kapiti Coast.

Hans Maarten van den Brink

Hans Maarten van den Brink (1956) is the author of four novels, five books of non-fiction and numerous articles for publications in the Netherlands and abroad. He worked as a newspaper corrspondent in the US, Spain and the Middle-East, as editor-in-chief for public broadcaster VPRO and as head of the Dutch Media Fund. His novella ‘On the Water’ was translated in fourteen languages and shortlisted for various prizes. His novel ‘Dijk’ came out in 2016 to great critical acclaim, rights sold to Israel, Italy, Germany and France. The author lives in Amsterdam, is married and has three children.

Evan Fallenberg

Evan Fallenberg is the authorof the novels Light Fell (Soho Press), When We Danced on Water (HarperCollins)and The Parting Gift (Other Press), and a translator of modern Hebrew novels,plays and libretti. He has won or been shortlisted for many prizes,including an American Library Association award for literature and a PENTranslation Prize. He directs the literary translation and fictionprograms at Bar-Ilan University in Tel Aviv and taught for five years at CityUniversity of Hong Kong. The recipient of fellowships from the MacDowellColony, the NEA, Chateau de Lavigny, and Banff Arts Centre, Fallenberg servesas judge for several international literary prizes and is the founder andartistic director of Arabesque: An Arts & Residency Center in Old Acre.

Kristina Hocevar

Kristina Hočevar, a poet and graduate in the Slovene Language and General Linguistics from theLjubljana Faculty of Arts. She works as a high-school teacher and as an editor. She has written six books ofpoetry. Little Tails received theGolden Bird Award and Aluminium on Teeth, Chalk on Lips won the Jenko Prize.She participated in a three way artist book: her one-poem book is accompanied with graphic works by Gorazd Krnc. Her poems have been translated intoseveral languages and published in different anthologies.

Luis Francia

A Palanca Poetry Prize winner,Luis H. Francia’s latest poetryvolume is Tattered Boat (2014). Previouscollections include The Museum ofAbsences and The Beauty of Ghosts.

His nonfiction collection, RE (2015) was awarded the 2016Philippines’ National Book Award for Best Essays in English. In 2002, he wonboth the PEN Open Book and the Asian American Writers literary awards for Eye of the Fish: A Personal Archipelago.He is in the Library of America’s BecomingAmericans: Four Centuries of Immigrant Writing.

A member of the New YorkWriters Workshop, he has conducted writing workshops at the City University ofHong Kong, the Iowa Writers Summer Workshop, and Ateneo de Manila University.
